I bought buildings and contents with my mortgage provider (Leek United). I needed to make a claim when I lost my digital SLR camera and I then found out that my insurance policy was actually with Norwich Union rather than Leek.

Norwich Union were really efficient and helpful. I had to get a police report and then tell them the poice report number. Then I had to send them the original invoice for the camera and memory card. I had it on email so I just forwarded it to them. 3 days later, Jessops vouchers arrived on my doorstep! It was really simple to make the claim and I am so relieved I actually had insurance otherwise I’d have nothing to show for the £900 I’d spent on the camera. Now I am much more careful too!

I have just had to refer Aviva to the financial ombudsman after having policy which clearly states ‘unlimited Cover’ for floods etc having paid my premiums and the EXCESS was also paid. I was flooded on 29th July and Santander (Aviva policy) have written to say that the claim is ‘on hold’, and asks questions which are irrelevent, to which I have replied and to date have received no response.
    BEWARE!
